-On last names:  I do have last names for the characters, but you won't see them often unless that is how the character is refered to.  With that in mind, I only place the last names that have been mentioned on this page.  You may see the character names update upon a last name being mentioned, if I miss any please let me know!

Imelwain (im el wain)  Sierinde (Sair rye en day):  A young man with a thirst for adventure and no knowledge of the practicalities involved.  He's a head in the clouds teenager who has heard far too many stories, and usually ends up disappointed that real life does not mimic his bardic inspiration.  While his knowledge and expectations are indeed somewhat off the mark, he is reliable in his own way.  Easily excited, he exhibits the vitality and vim of youth to inevitable reckless ends.  His exuberance has not earned him much in popularity!  There is some measure of mystery as to his father, who passed through town and vanished.  The matter is as much a mystery to his mother, who is unsure of why she was so enamored of the man.  Evadel knows more about the topic, but cryptic hints are the most she ever seems to share.

Gerald:  The single most annoyingly popular person in Three Oak Hill, as far as Imelwain is concerned.  Gerald is laid back, down to earth, and aloof.  He treats everyone equally, and it is not a matter of disdain. Gerald simply does not care to put forth the effort to pay attention to other people.  He is far too wrapped up in his studies, on a variety of magical topics, as he is trying to become a wizard.  Gerald is nice enough, but his focus has made him the hot topic among the girls of the village, and the target of most of the young men.
Cynthia:  Cynthia is freakishly strong, and is probably the best warrior under 30 in Three Oak Hill.  Her mother died during childbirth with her younger brother, and with just a dad and three brothers she never got the standard treatment of being a girl.  Instead she did everything that her brothers did, and when gender became an issue she worked harder until she could show them all up.  She may be a little rough around the edges, but there is enough womanly charm to her to make most of the boys daydream about her... just without the usual weaponry and tomboyish feats.
Evadel:  The bard who has inspired Imelwain so often.  Evadel has a wooden leg, a replacement that was required after an accident with a spooked horse and a cart carrying timber.  Often she will make light of that, stating that it is ironic to have replaced her leg with the material that had taken the original from her.  Since the leg bothers her if she walks too far, during bad weather, and when somebody shows off a spectacular amount of tone deafness (so she claims), Evadel rarely leaves the village.  Instead she has become the local claim to fame, building a rather large and opulent theater, and hosting events that draw some of the wealthiest citizens from the cities.  There are hints that Evadel may be famous, but in a village as small as Three Oak Hill those hints are easily missed.  Only rarely does a local wonder where she got the funding for a project as expensive as building the theater.
Mr. Grimmelstrich:  An innkeeper in Three Oak Hill.  He's not a pleasant person, but he minds himself with regard to business.  His inn caters to a variety of people, but is most well known as a hot spot for country trips among the prostitutes of the nearby towns.
Dubrick:  A quiet young man, Dubrick is the smallest boy in Three Oak Hill.  He is gentle natured, and will only resort to violence if pushed to protect himself of somebody else from serious harm.  He has a knack with anything that requires quick fingers, and is the only youth that Evadel has offered to tutor in the use of instruments.  He seems to have picked up a little of her skill, and she considers him to be a natural talent.  He is able to use some bardic magic even though he refused to study the theory, which irks Gerald to no end.
Peter:  Peter is much rougher than Dubrick.  He works for his father as a rental hand.  Most of the work involves lifting the heavier loads under conditions where mules can not be used.  This, along with genetics, has given Peter a great deal of strength.  He loves to do anything that requires muscle power, and has been known to wrestle with the adult militia men.  The only youth he fears is Cynthia.  She defeated him soundly in a mock battle of the militia's children, and ever since he has been extremely submissive to her.
Oliver Higgelmin:  At one point a prominent nobleman, Oliver brought destruction upon himself.  After picking a fight with another noble family out of pride, his own residence, and the city around it, were destroyed.  He managed to survive due to the efforts of several servants... but with the loss of his family he was depressed.  Two years later he met a girl named Miranda, who would grow to be Queen Miranda.  In an attempt to find redemption he raised her, and thus became one of the most important people in history.
Queen Miranda:  Queen Miranda, also known as 'The Severer', is the most famous monarch of the current age.  She is remembered as the penultimate mage, a figure revered for both power and wisdom.  She acted in a bid to halt The War of Twelve.  Instead of merely attempting to halt the war, she severed and destroyed a portion of the Raedin Falisma.  This allowed the conflict to settle under peaceful terms, although it took a toll on her from which she would never fully recover.  Only two other mages have ever managed to destroy part of the Raedin Falisma, and in both cases the amount destroyed paled in comparison to Miranda's achievement.
Ysen'theiril (I sen ath air el):  An old friend of Evadel, they once traveled the world as part of a band of mercenaries.  She is one of the Uerien (Ur ie en), a race of humanoids with features from birds.  An uncanny hunter, Ysen (short, I sen) is keen of both eye and ear.  Ysen is somewhat of a mystery, even to Evadel.  Ysen'theiril shows up with troubling information about a terror from the past, and is the one who drags Imelwain into his first adventure.
Mr. Melnin:  A sage of both alchemical and wizardly arts.  He specializes in things of benefit to the village, and thus his magic is not really a threat to people.  However, superstition being what it is, nobody believes his magic to be completely harmless.  Furthermore, his potions and philters are known to have volatile natures at times, and he had used them to assist with removing pests like a bear and a pack of wolves before.
